DEFCON 3

In addition to the threats from ISIS on the domestic homeland, the recent attacks in the US and Canada from Islamic extremists, and the fluid situation in Ferguson, Missouri; the alert level is raised effective immediately to DEFCON 3.

Regarding our members that are Veterans, the following guidance should be on your minds at all times:

IF you have any.. ANY stickers, DOD post tags, VETERAN license plates, or ANYTHING that says you were/are associated with the military, instruction is to carry a weapon at ALL times, and maintain a heightened awareness!!! ANYONE with military related identifiers, is an HVT for lone wolves, or terrorists. Their intent is soft targets, and a vehicle carrying military personnel or their families, are HVT’s for those that are sympathetic towards Islamic extremism. Know what leaving “an out” is… when stopping at stop lights or signs. Always leave yourselves an out!! Your vehicles will live….but you may not, if you can’t get out, because you allowed yourself to get boxed in!! DOD and DHS just put out another warning for attacks on the homeland….specifically military/former military. As some may know…. VA property doesn’t allow weapons to be on it. The state law, exempting parking lots, DOES NOT apply to federal property. However… the VA police (they ARE sworn law enforcement officers), aren’t looking to search vehicles or people. Don’t carry inside the building, as you will be arrested and held in a federal detention center. There is a parking lot exemption in New Mexico, but it doesn’t apply to federal property.

There has been a large increase in terrorist chatter, over the last month, with most relating to the air strikes against ISIS. The situation in Ferguson Missouri, is peaking the interests of radical groups aimed at racial division. Missouri State Police, and St Louis Cty Sheriff’s Office, have increased their alert levels, in response to the autopsy of the suspect shot by a police officer, giving credibility to the officer’s account of the incident.

The Ebola outbreak is another reason for raising the alert level. There are cases reported in Chicago, Texas, New York, and elsewhere. That said, ALL of NMM is advised to be on a higher level of readiness, and preparedness; than previously warranted. If you are unaware of what this means, read the guidance or utilize the chain of command to answer your questions. Thank you, and be safe!
